Work in progress

Wow, it has been a long time since I was on my blog.  The weather has been so phenominal out here on the coast this summer, that staying in the house was definitely not an option.  So crafting has been the last thing on my mind.  But I did join a new swap and took a position in one of the groups to complete a mini calendar page.  September was my chosen month.  The photo is a mockup of my intended finished card.  I am waiting to get some new printer ink, but until then, I decided to make my mockup in black and white.  Once I had printed it out, I thought I might colour it myself with copic markers, pencil etc and then add finishing touches with a little bling, Stickles and perhaps some well placed bling.  It is still in the planning stages so anything can change.  This is done flat to the card, but using some dimensional tabs to raise sections will add to its overall look.  The background paper from the print is meant to be corrigated cardboard in its natural colour, but I printed it in black and white on StampinUps Very Vanilla stock.  It has a hint of colour but does not detract from the hand-painted scene.  The sunflower was cut from Graphic 45 scrapbook paper.  As I play with it, I like it more and more.  Once I complete one of the cards, of which I have to make 13 copies of it, all hand done, I will take a photo of it and post it here.

Looks like a perfect image for Sept. The sunflower under the calendar adds the perfect balance and pop of color.
