What is this? Anyone?

I have a question for anyone viewing my blog. My neighbour has this lovely
tree (totally hidden in her garden by other overgrown trees) that hangs over
my fence. I absolutely love it, but I haven't a clue what it is. My husband
keeps threatening to cut it down, but I told him the wrath of me would strike
him if he touched this beautiful tree. I don't know if it is native to the
Northwest, but that is the area it is growing in. Any ideas anyone? I have
never seen anything so pretty.

I haven't a clue but have asked my buddies at The Stamp Shack for help to identify the tree.

Looks like a Hibiscus to me. Not sure I spelled that right. They come in all different colors. They are very hearty and very pretty!!

If I were a betting gal, I woudl say this is a member of the hibiscus family, called a Rose of Sharon. I have three of them, all different colours. They can grow up to twenty feet high, and are commonly late summer bloomers.

Deborah.

PS Barb sent me! :)

At least two of these responses were from my friends at The Stamp Shack. See, Norma, I said there were helpful.

Thank you all for giving me an answer. I think I will check it out at a nursery just for interests sake. This tree is at
least 12 feet high tucked into its
corner. And the blooms only starting coming out this past week or so.
And you did good, gramma Barb. Got your email too. Will answer in a few days.

I also think it's in the Hibiscus family and the buds look a little like the rose of sharon. I am surprised to see it growing so far north though. It is beautiful. Tell your dh to not even THINK about it!!! :-)
